Marty and I usually go somewhere every year without the kids but this year we didn't so Marty made us reservations for a quick trip down to Austin. It was a much-needed break and we had a great time. We stayed at Barton Creek Resort. It was so beautiful! Our room was on the 8th floor and you could see for miles.
And being the week of Christmas, the hotel was virtually empty. Everyone was calling us Mr. and Mrs. England everywhere we went because we were just about the only guests. It was a ghost town. Kinda felt like The Shining! Here is the restaurant at 6:30pm ... totally empty except us.
After dinner, we went to the lounge and again ... we were the only people there. Let me tell you, that was the best $15 margarita I ever drank! We had a great night.
The next day, we had to bundle up. The temperature went from 78° down to about 32° overnight. Yuck!

We drove to Lake Travis to meet Bonnie, my college roommate. We saw the Texas State Capitol Building on our way to the Hula Hut.
Here's a picture of me and Bonnie Jean on the left. And I ran into another friend of mine from Dallas. That's Emily and me on the right. It's weird when you see people in a different city. Emily was just passing through Austin on her way back to Dallas.
Then we decided to brave the cold and get some pictures out by the lake. BRRRRR! Here's me and Marty.
And me and Bonnie.
After lunch, we decided to head downtown and check out 6th Street. That's when things got UGLY.................. More on that tomorrow. :0)
For music today, you get the only song I know about Austin. This is Blake Shelton: Austin
