Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!

Nick had his first big concert last night at his school. My mom and stepdad came over to see the concert with us. Before we went, I wanted to take some pictures by the Christmas tree. I needed a good one of all of us for our Christmas card (yeah I know it's a little late to just be thinking of cards but they could make it by Christmas!!). Anyway, here are some pictures of the kids and then all of us and grandma and the kids and the last one is me and my mom. We actually did get one that was pretty good for the Christmas card so all was not lost!

And on to the band concert! Nick plays clarinet and on Thursday last week his instrument broke and we were scared we couldn't get it repaired in time. But with a little pleading, Mr. E's pulled through for us!

The concert was really good. It's hard to imagine that this group of over 100 6th graders had never played an instrument before just a couple of months ago. And last night they put on a whole concert. It was pretty impressive. And Nick was the best one of the bunch! Here are some pictures of him. I didn't realize until after the concert that his elf hat says, "JINGLE THIS!" Possibly not appropriate for an intermediate school concert but what can you do?

And as an added bonus, I ran into my good friend Claire at the concert (her son plays trombone) and we got to talk a little. We made plans to go look at "magic trees" again this year ... the Christmas tradition we started by accident last year and one that only makes sense to me and Claire!

And for music today, you get to hear the clarinet class at Nick's school play Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Isn't Nick an awesome clarinet player?
