Make New Friends But Keep The Old...

My friend Heather and her kids came for a quick visit last week. I met Heather in Arkansas when her son and Nick were in the same pre-school class in 2001. We hung out a lot together. We both live in the Dallas area now but it's a good hour's drive to her house and we don't see each other as much as we should. We took the kids out to the waterpark. Here we are now...

... and here we are in March 2002. (Say it ... we look oh so much better now!!!)

Here's the whole crew. Me, Heather, my four and her 3 (Steven, Heather's youngest, is hiding behind her leg.). When we met, I already had 4 and Heather just had 2. And here's my favorite story about Heather: We were making plans as to what we were going to do on her 40th birthday. We had a couple of months to plan and we were going to do something fun! And then one day my doorbell rang. It was Heather ... she was pale and had a freaked out look on her face. She told me she couldn't drink on her birthday ... she was PREGNANT!!! I tried to be a good friend. I tried not to laugh. She looked distraught! But it was so funny! Obviously everything worked out fine. She has a beautiful 5 year old boy now. But we still haven't gone out. We both moved and here it is 6 years later! Maybe we'll celebrate my 40th instead and I guarantee I won't have the pregnant problem!

Heather and her crew had to head back to Royse City so me and my kids and the friends we brought all stayed a little longer. We've spent just about the entire summer at Hawaiian Falls and this is the first time I brought a camera. Can you believe it? I normally take my kids and 3 neighbors. It's a full car but we always have fun. (Actually the kids have fun and I relax in the lazy river. Sometimes I run into people I know and sometimes I sleep.) Here are all of the girls. These are Lauren's two best friends; Mackenzie and Markenzie.
And the boys... the one you don't recognize is Jonathan. He's Mackie's best friend ... go figure. Nick and Austin are closer in age to him but it's Jonny and Mackenzie who are inseparable.
And here are me and my four. I can't believe summer is almost over. But what I really can't believe is that I have a 6th grader, a 5th grader and two 3rd graders! Everybody says it but they really do grow up fast! But, you know, I really love the age that they're at. They're challenging but fun. Marty and I decided Lauren has a bad case of "sassitude!"

You know we need some music. I decided to look up the top songs from the summer of 2002 since that's when Heather and I were hanging out the most. So here you have it ... Nelly: Hot In Here. Are you dancing yet? I love this song.

I know ... I still haven't posted the rest of my California pictures. They're coming soon ... before summer is over, I promise. Have a great Sunday!

I don't remember that pic? Why were we in a trailer park?
