Most of you know that I own some type of business that has to do with children. Many of you think that I teach gymnastics and to a certain degree, I do. However, technically I teach motor skills. Marty and I own a The Little Gym® franchise (actually we own 2, but I only work at one). And we do teach non-competitive gymnastics (as well as dance, cheerleading, karate and sports skills). However, the majority of students I personally teach are under the age of 3. I teach about 90% of the parent/child classes at our gym and I love it. Just look at the picture above (thank you to Rian for emailing it to me). This was taken today at the final class of the semester. This particular class is called the "Bugs" and the children are 4-10 months old. This is one of my favorite age groups because you can actually notice the changes in these children from week to week. I have watched many children take their first steps on my "big red mat." And a few of these kiddos took their first steps trying to walk to me! If that isn't a great reward for what I do, I don't know what is.
Here are some pictures of my "office" and a couple more of the classes I teach. Although my favorite classes are the parent/child classes, I also really enjoy the preschool classes. Three and four-year-old children will tell you some pretty funny stuff ... especially if you know the right questions to ask! ;-) (If you want to see any of these pictures bigger, just click on them.)
Today, I don't have a song for you. Instead, I searched YouTube for some clips of The Little Gym classes. I found a pretty good one that will give you a good idea of the type of classes I teach. And now you know my secret ... I get to play all day, every day!
Please gallop, please gallop, please gallop around the gym...
