Two in double digits!

Ten years ago today, little Austin Matthew was born. Although the actual delivery was much easier than Nick's, he gave us quite a scare for the first few moments of his life. They didn't even let Marty cut the cord because they had to take Austin and immediately suction out his lungs. It turned out to be no big deal but when you don't know what's going on, it's pretty scary!
A fun fact about Austin is that he was born at 11:56pm on September 1st. Had he been born 4 minutes later, he would have had to wait a whole year before starting school. Actually we thought about waiting anyway but in the end decided to send him to Kindergarten so that he would be closer in school age to Nick than to Lauren and Mackenzie since he and Nick are only 14 months apart.
Austin was such a cute baby. We would laugh so hard because he had such a big butt. I've never seen a baby with that big of a butt before. And his face was so big and round. His little belly button stuck out because he had an umbilical hernia. Just gave him more personality.
He's always been such a cuddly guy and he still is. That boy loves to give hugs! And although he is often the most challenging, he's just so much fun. I wouldn't trade his personality for anything.
I'm so proud of my little guy. I'm a little sad about him growing up so fast but I'm also excited to see all that he will become. Here are some old pictures. The one of him sitting with the twins is one of my favorites. He used to come up to me when I was nursing Lauren and Mackenzie when he knew I couldn't do anything to him and he would take both of his hands and bop them on the head. I would get sooo mad! So in this picture he has his hands up so he wouldn't get in trouble for touching them.
And here are some recent pictures. Top left - Austin, Marty and Lauren at the Rangers game. Top right - Nick, me and Austin. Look how tall he is. He's only about half an inch shorter than Nick, weighs 9 pounds more and wears a bigger size shoe. So much for being the little brother! I love the picture where he is asleep because you can see how full his face is getting. He's not chubby but he's definitely not a skinny guy. And the final picture is Austin breaking a board in Tae Kwon Do. He was really proud of this.
Music today was chosen by Austin himself ... Deee-Lite: Groove is in the Heart. What can I say? The boy knows how to party! I hope you have a great birthday Austin. I love you so much!
