Happy Birthday Marty!

Can you believe it ... I'm married to a 42-year-old man!!! We've had a great day today. We let Marty pick all of our activities. After sleeping in late, we started the day with a big breakfast. Then we all went to Home Depot and then headed over to Big League Dreams. It's a neat ballpark. Each of the fields is a replica of a major league ballpark. We walked around and watched some of the games. There was a softball tournament going on. And the kids played on the playground for a while. Here are some pictures of the birthday boy and the kids.

After we left Big League Dreams, we came home, ate lunch and then planted the tree that we bought at Home Depot. (Actually Marty and Nick planted it and it looks great!) Marty worked in the yard while the kids and I baked a cake, cupcakes and brownies. I'm an aspiring chef, I tell you. Then I cooked some steaks outside on the grill and then we had a party with all of the baked goods. Unfortunately the brownies turned out dry. What can you do? (CiCi's has great brownies. I should have ordered take-out brownies!) The cake was good though and the kids picked out some trick sparkler candles and had a good laugh when Marty blew them out. All in all, a great day. Happy Birthday Marty! We all love you.
In other news, baseball season is in full swing. Here are some pictures from practice last week. We dropped Nick off at the batting cage and then the kids and I headed to Whataburger. I'm not a big Whataburger fan unless it's after 11pm or before 10am. I can put away their taquitos (breakfast tacos). They were a staple for me after long nights out in college.
Friday night, all of the kids ended up spending the night somewhere. Nick and Mackenzie were at a neighbor's house. Lauren was across the street with another neighbor. And Austin asked if he could spend the night with Grandma. So while the kids were gone, Marty and I went out. I need to stop doing that and remember that I have to teach a class at 8:15 on Saturday mornings. But what can you do? Naps are a good thing. After work, I headed to Mom's house to collect Austin and got these pictures. Mom just got the swing. And then Austin spotted the lizard (or whatever you call that green animal) and wanted me to take a picture. Here you go, sweetie.
Besides Marty's birthday, the biggest news of the weekend is that I got new jeans! Marty will be glad that I am telling someone else because he's tired of the story. Anyway, on the way to pick up Austin, there was a garage sale down the street from my mom's house. I have a slight obsession with old picture frames and feel the need to stop when I see a garage sale to see if they have any frames. They did and I got two of them. And they were about to close the garage sale and had everything half off what it was marked. So I got two cool frames for 3 bucks or something. Well, as I was paying for the frames, I saw a pair of jeans out of the corner of my eye. I don't even look at clothes when I'm at garage sales (yuck!) but these still had the tag on them and they were nice jeans. And they were only a dollar. And they were my size. So I said what the hell and bought them. At 50% off, they were only 50 cents so I figured if they were hideous, I would throw them in the bag of crap I have to take to the church. Well, turns out, they are my favorite jeans ever!!! And they were only 50 cents! Some of you know that I get a weird thrill out of finding good deals at the store so this is just the coolest thing ever. Here's me wearing the bargain of the century. Picture by Nick. He's getting pretty good.

Enough said about the jeans. Marty is going to tell me to shut up soon, I'm sure. Anyway, I have to go and finish out this birthday day with Marty and the kids. For your listening pleasure, here's 50 Cent: In Da Club. This is in honor of Marty's birthday (listen to the lyrics) and my 50 cent jeans. Have a great day!

Hey, 42 is good. I'm heading toward 43 myself. lol
Great find at the garage sales. I love to do garage sales but I'm usually working on the Saturday mornings so I miss them. Clothes don't usually bother me - once they've been soaked and washed.... but I don't buy them for me. Miss Six usually finds designer stuff for herself. Me? I'm a bit bigger than her!! lol

  2. Hey, 42 isn't so old! I know people who have babies at 42! (like the chick I look at every morning in the mirror!!!!)

I need to ask you a ??? about birthday parties at TLG - we've been "kicked out" of my parent's house since they sold it (it was on the market for a WEEK) and they have to vacate 5 days after when we were going to party so the house is going to be pretty much empty by that point So, anyway - who should I talk to here in LR about a party? I'm not sure if you have my email address - but I'm ginaegg on gmail com or sbcglobal net :)
