I've been saying over and over that we are in the process of moving. Actually we moved over Mother's Day weekend (May 12th). So it's been over a month and the house if finally presentable on the outside. Here is a picture I just took. The lighting is pretty cool because it is so sunny that I need sunglasses but just about a mile away (over the lake), it's almost black. There's a storm coming! Look closely and you can see a rainbow. I didn't even notice it while I was taking the picture.
One of my favorite parts of the house is our front porch. Last week we drove down to a cute roadside shop in Midlothian (a little hick town by us) and bought the Lone Star bench along with a cool metal star hanging for the wall and some miscellaneous other items. Marty saw the shop on his way back from Houston so we threw the kids in the car and went for a drive. Several hundred dollars later, we came home!
My favorite room in every house we have owned has always been the formal living/dining room. Actually, in all of the other houses, I have had either a living room or a dining room. In this house I have BOTH! It is my favorite room because that's where I hang all of my old family pictures. They don't get hung in any order except that the first three are always Marty's grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. They take prominence in the room because they are the heads of the England family. Then I just fill in all of the other photos around the room. Floor to ceiling photos! I love it and it's always a good conversation starter when people visit. I just finished hanging the 3 England men and the rest of tonight, I will hang the others. Marty is in Arkansas tonight so I think I'll grab a wine cooler, put on some music and start pounding nails. Hopefully I won't wake up the kids! Here's a 'before' picture of the room. Not too pretty!!
Hopefully soon I can post an 'after' photo! Oh, I just remembered that I did a layout on the room sometime last year. See below. Credits and journaling here.
Enough talking. Off to pound out some frustration. LOL!
GORGEOUS!!!!! LOVE the photo. And a little tear is streaming down my cheek in regards to Midlothian. And your Lone Star front porch. Ah, memories. I have the living room and dining room, too. And my walls are still bare. Such a CHICKEN. You've inspired me to get crackin'. Although I probably won't do it hopped up on Bartles & Jaymes...too fraught with danger! ;)
ReplyDeleteMidlothian.....
ReplyDeleteI interviewed a couple from there....small world.
They had the "new year's baby" in Joplin MO while on a trip to visit family...
So much fun with that story....
